“Then he said to me, “Fear not, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand and humbled yourself before your God, your words have been heard, and I have come because of your words.” Daniel 10:12 ESV
What have you set your heart to understand during this fast?
I hope you are journaling or somehow documenting all that you are seeking from the Lord during this season. Why? Because this is an opportunity to memorialize all that God is doing in your life and it starts right now.
Daniel Chapter 10 is probably the most popular reference for 21-day fasts, and has even helped popularize the “Daniel Fast” many Christian churches follow every January. What I love about Daniel’s account of seeking the Lord through prayer and fasting is the reassurance we find in verse 12.
He heard you the first time.
You will be able to look back on this moment months and years from now and reflect on the goodness of the Lord. Scripture repeatedly reminds us that the Lord hears our cry. While the answer to our prayers may not manifest immediately, we have hope and peace because we know He hears us.
“This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.” 1 John 5:14 NIV
Now, let’s take action!
Write down what you want to understand from the Lord. Where are you seeking clarity, guidance or direction?
