You Have Been Heard

“Then he said to me, “Fear not, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand and humbled yourself before your God, your words have been heard, and I have come because of your words.” Daniel 10:12 ESV

What have you set your heart to understand during this fast?

I hope you are journaling or somehow documenting all that you are seeking from the Lord during this season. Why? Because this is an opportunity to memorialize all that God is doing in your life and it starts right now.

Daniel Chapter 10 is probably the most popularĀ referenceĀ for 21-day fasts, and has even helped popularize the “Daniel Fast” many Christian churches follow every January. What I love about Daniel’s account of seeking the Lord through prayer and fasting is the reassurance we find in verse 12.

He heard you the first time.

You will be able to look back on this moment months and years from now and reflect on the goodness of the Lord. Scripture repeatedly reminds us that the Lord hears our cry. While the answer to our prayers may not manifest immediately, we have hope and peace because we know He hears us.

“This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.” 1 John 5:14 NIV

Now, let’s take action!

Write down what you want to understand from the Lord. Where are you seeking clarity, guidance or direction?

  1. I have also done this fast for several years now. It’s a very important time in my life because I have seen God move in miraculous ways in my life! But as you stated with life & kids the fast can get challenging at times, so I thank you so much for providing these tools & support system for us! This is very helpful & uplifting!! Thank You!! And I love this site!!!

    • Thank you so much Tiffini! I love hearing from you and am so glad you are enjoying the posts. I too have seen God move in mighty ways during periods of fasting. The food temptations when the kids are around are very real…but one of the things I’ve tried to do is share about fasting with the kids – at a level of detail or explanation that they can understand at their age. I think sharing with our kids is a great way to plant seeds early for a foundation of submission to the Lord. Blessings to you as you continue to fast!
